Mentorship

For over twenty years I’ve motivated, coached, and inspired students and friends to achieve their goals. I’m going to help you find happiness—an even better life—because joy is the only way to measure success. It doesn’t matter what else you own or accomplish if you’re not happy. Let’s overcome whatever obstacles stand between you and your best life. We have one shot at this and there’s no reason not to live out your dreams.

My entire life I had dreamt of building a cabin in Alaska. Some of my earliest memories are of drawing pictures of what that home would look like. I also dreamt of becoming a writer and, at some point, a professor. I ended up doing both. I eventually climbed to the top of a career as a tenured professor—Head of Creative Writing at a four year college in Colorado. It was a bullet-proof job—one that I could never lose. The kind of security most people would never give up.

But I wasn’t as happy as I could be. I realized writing and teaching were only some of my dreams. There was so much else I wanted in life and I missed the one place that ever felt like home to me—my community: Talkeetna. I knew I needed to leave my comfort zone, my “golden cage.” It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And it took a lot of support and mentorship from valuable people in my life. I want to be one of those people for you.

Now I’m back in Alaska, happier than I’ve ever been. I’ve built the cabin I’ve always dreamt of and love being home in my community where I still find ways to teach and write. Your dreams might be very different from mine and that’s okay. I can still help. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, which I’ve learned so much from. I don’t have all the answers but I do have a gift for mentorship, for inspiring, motivating, and guiding people.

Let’s talk about your dreams, your path to even more happiness, and what you need to do to get there. I’m here. Reach out: iverarnegard1@gmail.com or by phone at (907) 521-8342.
